His career at Cannes began with <em>Oldboy<\/em> (Grand Prix 2004), and his Competition,selected films, including <em>Thirst<\/em> (2009), <em>The Handmaiden<\/em> (2016), and <em>Decision to Leave<\/em> (2022) have earned major accolades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Park\u2019s presidency celebrates Korean cinema\u2019s creativity and global impact, from early pioneers like <strong>Im Kwon-taek<\/strong> to Palme d\u2019Or winner <strong>Bong Joon-ho<\/strong> (2019). Actors such as <strong>Jeon Do-yeon<\/strong> and <strong>Song Kang-ho<\/strong> further showcase Korea\u2019s cinematic talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reflecting on his upcoming role, Park Chan-wook said:<br><em>&#8220;The theater is dark so that we may see the light of cinema\u2026 this simple act of gathering to watch a film together is itself a moving and universal expression of solidarity.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cannes audiences will witness the <strong>Palme d\u2019Or award ceremony on May 23<\/strong>, under the discerning
